BPI seeks comprehensive mobile financial services platform to support their multi-year vision for extending their reach to customers
The Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI) may be SE Asia's oldest bank, and the second largest bank in the Philippines. But they are at the forefront in innovation.
BPI's mobile banking services are powered by Fronde's Mobile Platform. Fronde has enabled the bank to expose a comprehensive set of payment and self-service customer care services from their core banking systems direct to the mobile phone - and tailor the customer experience to align with with their own brand.
BPI was seeking a comprehensive mobile financial services platform to support their multi-year vision for extending their reach to their customers, and supporting the long term mobility needs of its entire business.
The Solution
BPI has recently launched phase one of their next generation mobile banking services. The Fronde deployment replaces their existing telco-specific solution. Clients can choose between a menu-based or internet-based full mobile banking facility, which allows them to transfer funds, inquire balance, reload prepaid airtime, and pay bills. With over 200 enrolled merchants, BPI has the widest network of bill payment partners in the country.
Teresita B. Tan, BPI senior VP, Head of Overseas Banking and Channel Services said,
"This is really about giving our clients the flexibility they need."
BPI Customer can:
- View account information
- Pay bills
- Transfer funds between their own accounts
- Reload their prepaid mobile phone account
- Make person to person payments to any Philippines bank account
- Make payments to friends and family from a predefined list
- Stop a cheque
- Report a lost card
- Change password
Additionally, BPI customers can access a range of retail merchants via the BPI Express Mobile Mall (supported by Fronde's mobile commerce product). Merchants such as Ayala Mall's Sure Seats are amongst the merchant partners. Clients can enjoy the ease and convenience of securing movie tickets without the hassle of lining up at the counter. No need to claim tickets as well, the validation sent via SMS serves as the movie ticket.
Teresita B. Tan, BPI senior VP, Head of Overseas Banking and Channel Services said,
"We want to give our clients options for managing their finances even during the holiday season. When you can do banking transactions on the go - anytime, anywhere - you gain more freedom to do things."
